Diamagnetic response of normal-metal-superconductor double layers.

چکیده
The magnetic response of a proximity-coupled superconductor–normal-metal sandwich is studied within the framework of the quasiclassical theory. The magnetization is evaluated for finite values of the applied magnetic field ~linear and nonlinear response! at arbitrary temperatures and is used to fit recent experimental lowtemperature data. The hysteretic behavior predicted from a Ginzburg-Landau approach and observed in experiments is obtained within the quasiclassical theory and shown to exist also outside the Ginzburg-Landau region. © 1996 The American Physical Society.

Overscreening Diamagnetism in Cylindrical Superconductor-normal Metal-heterostructures
We study the linear diamagnetic response of a superconducting cylinder coated by a normal-metal layer due to the proximity effect using the clean limit quasiclassical Eilenberger equations. We compare the results for the susceptibility with those for a planar geometry. Interestingly, for R ∼ d the cylinder exhibits a stronger overscreening of the magnetic field, i.e., at the interface to the su...
متن کاملPossibility of reflectionless tunneling crossed transport at normal metal / superconductor double interfaces
– We investigate one dimensional models (the Blonder, Tinkham, Klapwijk model and a tight-binding model) of non local transport at normal metal / superconductor (NS) double interfaces. We find a negative elastic cotunneling crossed conductance, strongly enhanced by additional scatterers away from the interfaces, suggesting the possibility of reflectionless tunneling non local transport at doubl...
متن کاملResponse time of a thermometer based on normal metal–insulator–superconductor (NIS) tunnel junctions
We have measured the thermal response of a superconductor–normal metal–superconductor (SINIS) tunnel junction structure at substrate temperature ∼ 60 mK by directly heating the electron system in the normal metal island. In our structure, we /nd the response time is determined by the electron–phonon coupling in the electron temperature range 300–600 mK. By using AC heating, the cut-o4 frequency...
متن کاملQuantitative simulation of the superconducting proximity effect
A numerical method is developed to calculate the transition temperature of double or multilayers consisting of films of superconductors and normal conductors. The approach is based on a dynamic interpretation of Gorkov’s linear gap equation and is very flexible. The mean free path l of the different metals, transmission through the interface, ratio of specular reflection to diffusive scattering...
متن کاملAbsorption of heat into a superconductor-normal metal-superconductor junction from a fluctuating environment.
We study a diffusive superconductor-normal-metal-superconductor junction in an environment with intrinsic incoherent fluctuations which couple to the junction through an electromagnetic field. When the temperature of the junction differs from that of the environment, this coupling leads to an energy transfer between the two systems, taking the junction out of equilibrium. We describe this effec...
